CozyBot at the Manchester Maker Faire

Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, 28th - 29th July 2012

CozyBot was on the top floor of the 1830 building - so called because it's the oldest railway shed in the world - and was surrounded by the most amazing gizmos, gadgets and fascinating people you could imagine. In other words, he was right at home there!

Held over the weekend, it meant another 2 days without even pausing to sit down - a familiar experience after the Gadget Show - but it was totally worth it. CozyBots were for sale, but that was incidental - this was the Maker Faire, so people were more interested in how they were designed and built. And they were not disappointed!

A little bit of history

Being the Maker Faire, the story of CozyBot was of particular interest, so on the stand there were various prototypes, early designs and 3D models used for testing. Even the very first one was there - a rough looking lump of plasticene which clearly showed the 2 part design and the valley from the very beginnings.

A big Hi! to everyone who came to the stand, and special thanks to Les Pounder for the pics, and the Blackpool GeekUp posse who were well represented on the Saturday!

Several Nexus 7's were seen over the weekend, which was nice as they'd only been available for just over a week, and there was a buzz around the one on the stand showing how well it works with CozyBot. As usual, the custom CoyBots got lots of attention and it became a little repetitive explaining they aren't for sale! One day, perhaps...

A great day was had by all in a historic setting - sincere thanks to MOSI for running such a fantasic event!
